End of January wrap up

When Maddie is having a hard morning, sometimes her bunny collection can make things all better.

Girls showing me a lego house they made.

A lego minifig shelf I made out of a shadow box and some balsa wood.

Esperanza came over for a play/dinner date.

A curl explosion, on my way out to my January Mom's Night Out.

 Lego WeDo 2.0

Exploring different kinds of forces in Science. These little cardboard hoppers you lay flat and the force on the rubberband makes them bounce up into the sky.

Of course, Maddie, drew a bunny on her hopper.

In art class, we were studying murals. So we walked around downtown Vancouver a bit and studied some of the murals our city has.

Then the girls each had the opportunity to create their own mural. We never quite finished this project. Maddie likes to work in small detail and while she liked this project, it wasn't her favorite.

Izzie playing guitar at her first music recital.

Maddie playing piano. Her teacher, Ms. Rachel sat on stage with her for emotional support.

 Sick kiddo. Winter. Sigh.

Starting a new curl regime...

The Big Thaw and Lego Room

We were starting to dream of warm sunny days.

 Finally we started to melt!

Lego room all clean and shiney.

(PS... don't ever put masking tape on the carpet and leave it there for awhile. Because it never comes up all the way.)

Melting Snow

The sun came out and it was amazing.

Decided to proof some homemade bread by the fire.

The road melted just enough for us to get to music class. We're free!

We were studying idioms and Izzie drew this picture of "Caught you Red Handed"

A WHOLE lot of snow.

In art we were learning what monochromatic means and experimenting with watercolors to achieve this effect. I really enjoy doing art with the girls so I painted this ballerina. I really like how it turned out.

 Maddie likes to paint/draw scenery.

 Izzie painted a cat.

Maddie and Izzie using the teacups they got from Esperanza.

Selling cookies in the snow. The hope was to get extra sympathy orders!

We decided to do movie night in bed. Selfie time! (I had straightened my hair for fun earlier that day, something I rarely, rarely ever do.)

The next day the girls were watching TV in our room. When you cabin fever strikes because of being snowed in, you try to get creative with entertainment. And a million photos of snow:

I think the final count was 10"

We tried snow ice cream, I wasn't too impressed. The girls thought it was pretty fun. It started melting when I took this photo.
