End of Camp and Father's Day

On the way home from camp we decided to stop in Astoria for lunch. We were pretty grimy, but decided we didn't care. Mom had a guide book and was looking up restaurant recommendations. She found one that sounded pretty good, and no where did it say it was a vegetarian place. Thankfully when they got there, there was a menu posted at their door. We were looking at it and I said outloud, "Oh this looks like a vegetarian place." Apparently Izzie was REALLY hungry because when she heard me say that she said VERY loudly, "I want MEAT!" It sort of cracked us all up. A lady was walking by and couldn't but help overhear. She pointed us towards the hamburger joint at the end of the block. That's where we ended up eating!

These girls have fallen asleep in the care probably five times in their lives. This was one of them. Camp wore them out! Thankfully those water bottles didn't crash down on their heads while they were sleeping!!

Daddy and the girs putting together some lego kits.

Some of my friends showing off their awesome mother daughter yoga skills.

The first clue in the annual Father's Day scavenger hunt.

We like to celebrate half birthday's around here, because well, why not! Plus when you are a kid that 1/2 is important in your age. You aren't just 8 anymore, you are 8 and HALF! I bought a giant cupcake and we cut it in half!

Least favorite part of camp, when you camp in the rain you've got to air out the tent on the next sunny day!

Cape Disappointment, Day 3

 Making breakfast on Day 3.

 Maddie brushing Nanna's hair.

Exploring the camp. This was an amphitheater we found.  The girls had a grand time scaling the rock wall, it was just steep enough to make it fun without being scary and needing equipment.

Maddie and Izzie on one of the other beaches.

The driftwood is so cool. I really liked this one hat had a rusty nail in it, makes you think of sunken ships and other adventures.

 Maddie catching some sun.

On the last night, I was heading to the restrooms and saw the sun setting. It dawned on me that it would be setting over the ocean and that would be cool to see. So we quickly ran towards the sunset to check it out. We didn't realize that our campsite was within walking distance of the beach the whole time!!!

Popo and the girls checking out the almost full moon. They don't get to see the moon that often, our house is nestled in trees and it's rare you can see it at night. They were so excited to see it, they kept trying to take a picture of it.

Cape Disappointment, Day 2

Day two at camp. Starting the day off with some tree climbing.

 Visit from a deer.

We wandered down to one of the beaches. Where we were the mouth of Columbia river and the Pacific Ocean meet up. That makes for a lot of turbulent waters, which leaves LOTS of drift wood!

I laid down in the tent to read my book and I could hear the girls playing outside. There's Izzie climbing "her" rock.

Izzie eating a snack and daydreaming.

Maddie and Nanna. We played a game of Clue.

Making Mac'n Cheese on the campfire.

With hotdogs wrapped in crescent rolls on a stick.

Orange brownies. Sadly I forgot how long brownies take to make. By the time these were actually done, we decided it was too late and we would eat them the next day. We put the lid on and figured the raccoon wouldn't be strong enough to lift it. We were very wrong. The raccoon gorged himself on all this chocolate. I'm surprised we didn't accidentally kill it. But he was back the next night looking for more!
