A bit of organization and a cotton gin model

Izzie and Maddie eating breakfast at their "Restaurant" they chose to sit by the window seat for the view.

When you have no idea what is in your deep freeze AND when every time you open it your foot is at risk for being broken by a frozen block of a frozen bomb, it is time to organize. I have a foodsaver so I like to store one portion leftovers to have homemade quick "TV Dinners." But finding anything was impossible. So I got a few plastic bins labeled them and now I can quickly find anything by using the dry erase marker label method on the freezer door.

I felt quite accomplished, if I do say so myself.

We were studying early American history right now and the start of modernization with inventions such as the cotton gin by Eli Whitney. We made a model of a cotton gin and it was pretty fun. Izzie is drawing a screen that the cotton would be pulled through.

 Maddie is decorating the box.

Then we made a bristle. The cotton would be pulled into the bristle and the cotton seeds (shown here by popcorn kernels) would fall away from the screen. cleaned cotton would be pulled through the screen by a brush on the opposite side. It was pretty cool to see how the simple machine would have worked.
