Other things

Izzie goofing off, drew this upside down!

Nanny was in the hospital and we were waiting for news. My friend Hanukkah came over just to be with us. She read stories to the kids and just helped keep it a peaceful afternoon.

Izzie drew a picture of her and her sister's Halloween costumes.

Remembering Nanny

This is hard to write today. I haven't been very good at keeping up with my blog, but I have good intentions. I really want to get it caught up and post photos and stories in a timely manner once again. But until that actually happens (if ever) I've been running it 2-3 months behind always playing catch up. Which usually isn't a big deal, until you get to a date like Sept 28th that you just really don't want to spend too much time talking about, especially when you sit down at the computer to do the next post not realizing that was the post waiting for me. But, I don't want to skip over it, how could I? We love Nanny and the way to keep that love is to talk about her and remember her.

We got a call that Nanny was in Wisconsin visiting family with Jackie and Tom and that she fell in a Casino. They took her to the hospital but there wasn't much that could be done. In a way it was fitting. Nanny was out there LIVING a full life. She was with family and friends and doing what she loved doing the most. Being social and playing slots. She got to say her goodbyes and then on Sept 28th, she peacefully fell asleep. We miss her so much. She was with me in spirit this Thanksgiving, helping me make the gravy. That was her specialty you know. She was always thinking of others and always, always the center of attention. She was never afraid to show her feelings and especially her love. She had a flair for drama and always had a good laugh in her. She will be always missed but never forgotten. We love you.

Happy Birthday to Nanna

My daisies have metamorphosed into brownies! Izzie and Maddie.

 Closing circle.

Izzie doing school work, I'm not sure why she's wearing a raincoat???

I signed the girls up for a Lego lesson at a local lego store called Bricks and More. They sell used and new legos. We got to class a few minutes early to check out the lego city that we heard was there.

Izzie and Maddie working on the challenge. The teacher had a little lego house built and they had to study it and reverse engineer it to rebuild it out of their blocks. This was something new for the girls, they've only ever done free play or following step by step instructions. This was challenging enough to make it interesting, but not completely out of their skill level.

After they did the build challenge they got to do a free build with their bricks and then keep the bricks that they used for class.

Izzie. This was the first time the store held one of these classes, we had fun, and plan on checking it out again, if the classes are still available.

One of our fellow homeschool friends is a girl who is 13 and she loves to bake. She has inspirations of becoming a baker and I wanted to support her enthusiasm. So I ordered a cake from her for Mom's birthday. It's a white cake with raspberry filling. Look how gorgeous it is! I got a homemade cake with all fresh ingredients and none of the work. Woohoo!

 My momma. Happy Birthday!

Sneak peak of Izzie's Halloween costume in progress. It still needs the sleeves in this photo. That grin couldn't get any bigger she was SOOOO happy with it. She wanted a ballgown and I delivered. She picked out all her fabrics ad did a terrific job! I would have gone with a solid pink, but this Asian Brocade she picked out is fabulous.

It still feels like summer

 Popo and Izzie hanging out.

We wanted to have a pizza movie night, and I wanted leftovers. So I made four large pizzas. The leftovers I froze and it has been so awesome to have frozen pizza on hand!

library trip, followed by a spontaneous park visit.

Momma and Izzie, I had to do a double take on this photo, I thought it was Maddie for a second!

Maddie didn't wear the right clothes for swinging, but we weren't planning on going to the park. The weather was just so perfect though. It was still fun.

We pulled out a christmas gift from last year and the girls had a really fun time exploring this bug habitat.

I believe this is Izzie's lion drawing from our art class.

"The Goops" Poetry Recital

Izzie reciting a poem called "The Goops" by Gilette Burgess. Memorizing and reciting poetry is part of our Grammar curriculum.

Maddie had the poem down pat, but as soon as she was supposed to recite it in front of the camera she got so worried she'd mess up that she got upset. But we worked through it and she completed the assignment.
