More Summer Fun

Maddie and Izzie trying out their "new" dry erase desks. They work pretty well, not as good as a dry erase board (they are a bit harder to erase) but still, well enough. They've been great for math class, being able to use them as scratch "paper" as the girls solve problems.

The wisteria is ALIVE! I came out to find that the girls tied a watering can up in the wisteria, but it appears as if it really just is eating anything in it's path! Actually since having, Kent, our landscaper come and prune the wisteria back it hasn't grown quite as crazy this year. I think he shocked it into obedience.

We checked out a new park in Washougal with our friends.

And had a small storytime, because, why not?

Funny story. For our monthly Mom's Night Out, we decided to eat at Beaches Restaurant because it is on the river and we wanted to enjoy the view. I got there early because you can't get reservations on the patio. But I forgot to bring a hoodie, you know, it being JULY and all. But it was down right chilly. I mentioned that I wasn't expecting it to be so cold to the waitress and she brought me this day glow blanket to wrap up in. How cool? I would have been miserable otherwise. I've got to say, Beaches isn't my favorite restaurant food wise, in that count they are just "okay." But for service they are top notch.

 Izzie and her lego creation.

On a whim, I bought this silly Hummingbird Swing. I realize that I could probably have made something just as easily, but it wasn't very expensive and the idea tickled me. I hung it up and I swear, not 10 minutes later a hummer was sitting on it. I was SO excited. And even more excited that I got a picture of it. Even if it isn't a great picture.

Maddie and Izzie, doing what they love best lately. I think reading books has even edged out legos lately, but maybe just barely.

Well then there is superheroes. That is also on the top of their favorite things to talk about. Here we are at one of the latest superhero movies... Avengers something I think. I really do enjoy the superhero movies, but I keep getting them mixed up. I'll have to ask the girls, they can tell me everything I ever wanted to know and more. (Izzie, John, Maddie.)

Girl Scout Day Camp, Year 2

Maddie and Izzie ready for their second year at Girl Scout Day Camp. This year the theme was Superheroes, right up my girls' alley!

And the tradition continued, that while the girls were at camp, Teddy and Bunny found fun stuff to do in and around the house.

Over the weekend before camp, Izzie had been complaining of being dizzy and having a headache. She felt well the morning of camp, so I sent her off but made a doc appointment for that afternoon. Doc said she probably was suffering from a mild concussion from when she fell off her bike a couple weeks prior. Apparently concussions can show effects up to a month after an incident. I'm so glad she had her helmet on. She's fine now, but she had dizzy spells on and off for a while there.

Cute picture of Maddie and the halfway point of our front pond (aka swamp corner) makeover. We dredged it out and filled it in. Now we are replacing a bunch of the stones that were in the pond to make it a rock garden. We could never get the pond working so it just turned into a gross swampy mess, this will be much easier maintenance.

While the girls were at camp, I spent HOURS going through the school room, packing up first grade and reorganizing us for second grade. I also painted the top of their desks with white board paint. I was really excited to find paper storage for my construction paper, school paper and drawing paper at a garage sale for super cheap.

The supply shelf. If only I had taken a before picture. Let's just say it was 100% opposite of this before. The school room had gotten fairly messy by the end of the year!

The desks had to cure for a few days so the girls got creative with their work. And of course, this clean room just called to them to be used! Part of me wanted to lock it up and not let anyone ever back in, which of course isn't practical, but it really did take a lot of work to get it back to pristine condition. Now to get rid of the rose carpet.... but one thing at a time!

Pony and Fairy Houses

Reagan and Maddie setting up a pony house.

Floating with Nanna in her pool.

 Izzie reading a book.

Izzie and Maddie making fairy houses at Homeschool Group.

Maddie got my phone and took a picture while I was driving.

She took this photo of Izzie too.

I love my chalkboard cabinets. Not only are they good for making menus and writing notes, they are great for impromtu lessons. Such as this quick fraction lesson. If I remember correctly we were cutting up a watermelon.

Fourth of July

On the way home from Aquarium trip, Maddie had some tummy trouble and we had to stop several times for potty breaks. The stress of the drive home with a sick kid, the long drive and the lack of sleep (uh... sleepover with 14 girls!) I apparently gripped the wheel with a death grip all the way home. Which did some damage to my wrist. I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't move my wrist at all. I was in so much pain, I thought I was going to have to go to the emergency room. I woke John up and he massaged my wrist for a bit and I finally was able to move it a little bit. The next day, I went out and bought this wrist brace and ended up wearing it for a few weeks! Misery!

Sprinkler and summertime fun with my little ponies.

Apparently the bad guy caught some ponies in the Wisteria Beast.

 Standing Guard???
