Washington Fog

Lovely, but super foggy day. This is a picture taken from our school room.

 Maddie concentrating on school work.

Izziel, Maddie and Brice at the library.

An amazing Crane Oragami tree at the library.

More fog. Taken out of one of the windows in my sewing room. The fog can sometimes hang around all day.

Taken from the other sewing room. You don't know how much I love this view and the fact that it is in my backyard. I love feeling like I'm in a tree house.

Esperanza, Izzie and Maddie. My girls went through about a month where they layered four to five skirts trying to make a ball gown. Obviously it doesn't look like a ball gown, but to them I guess, it felt fancy.

First time Bowling

This is the beginning of my white mug collection. I think my late thirties will be known as the White Years. It's funny because growing up I loved color on everything, but lately I am really into white linens and dishes. I still like color on my walls, but it's more subtle than in years past. Although I am contemplating painting my bedroom white, keeping our dark wood furniture and putting white linens on it. With a wall of flowy white curtains behind the bed. Anyway, back to the mugs. I have turned into a big hot tea drinker up here in the Pacific Northwest. Coffee is huge up here, but I'm not a coffee drinker. I started with a set of four of the mug backrow all the way to the left of the photo. But four mugs wasn't enough because often I have lots of moms over for playdates or craft nights, etc and we all like to drink tea. So when I went to add a few more mugs, I was noticing all the fun mugs out there and had a hard time deciding. But ultimately I didn't want to add visual clutter to my small kitchen. I have an open pantry and my dishes are out on display. I found some white mugs in different textures and patterns and then I decided I'd add to my mug collection with all white mugs that were different. I'm totally in love with it!

Maddie and Izzie making beads from a kit they got for their birthday.

I gave some table scraps to Ripley and Jake got brave enough to try to share. So I gave him a few pieces too. I never used to give the table scraps but now that they are 18+ and 15 respectively, they pretty much get whatever they want.

My friend Nat has a large family. She adopted two girls from Asia (Taiwan, I think, I can't remember) and she has two biological boys. Then she heard about the state of the orphanages in the DRC in Africa and their family decided they had room for two more. It was a long long process, over a year and three visits to Africa but her girls, Lucie and Mydra finally made it to the US. This was at their welcome home party. Taylor is sitting next to her.

Daddy and Izzie. We FINALLY took the girls bowling. John and I love bowling, it's our standard date night. But for some reason we've never taken the girls. I think they had fun. They were a bit frustrated (even with the bumpers) but I think they got into it by the end.

They were having a hard time getting the ball to make it to the end of the lane. So Daddy showed her how to granny bowl. She preferred the one arm swing though.

Library Book Shelf

 Izzie working on the vault.

Jake cuddling with Izzie's Get Better Giraffe. It heats up in the microwave and is like a heating pad. Jake thought that was pretty cool.

Maddie and Izzie. I bought these skirts that they call their "hippie skirts" and they wore them every day for two weeks!

Izzie watching Maddie play Animal Crossing.

I finally got all the shelves up from IKEA for our Library wall. We check out close to 50 books every week or two! Displaying them this way helps the all get read.

As part of our Map Unit we made a Compass Rose.

 Izzie made hers pretty fancy.

Modeling some sweaters that Nanna and Popo bought them.

Met our friend Brice at the library.

I had a Mom's Night Out dinner with some friends so as a fun silly dinner for the kids I made popcorn, fruit and cheese for dinner. John had leftovers. They thought it was the silliest thing ever.

While I got to meet friends at a really cool Moroccan restaurant.

OMSI visit

 Working on decluttering this year.

Izzie and Maddie playing with their doll house.

 Playing at OMSI

Funny how things turn out. We learned about Greenscreens at OMSI and then in the following weeks they came up in conversation a lot! When we were watching Once Upon a Time, the girls got to see how the actors used Green Screens.

 Working on a puzzle. (Izzie.)

Our friends playing at OMSI with us.

New haircut an my curls are liberated!

Foggy night!
