On a whim I bought some press on nails for Halloween night. They were clearanced down to just a few dollars. I completely forgot how annoying fake nails are. But they were fun too, and didn't last that long.

The WHEEL OF GLOOM. You spin it and you might get a piece of Candy or you might get to read a DOOM card. We all laughed at the one that said, "You have to start going to Public School." Although some were super sad fortunes like, "Your best friend moves away." The kids had fun making up new DOOM & GLOOM cards.
Did I mention that I also bought some purple hair extensions and some glow in the dark horns for Halloween night?
John took the girls around the neighborhood dressed up like a lumberjack and I stayed back to hand out candy.
I hosted a Homeschool Game Day and we pulled out Candyland, Ants in you Pants, Cooties and more. Some kids brought their favorite games from home and they all had a great time. They ended up playing board games for about an hour and then they all wandered off to play dress up, barbies and legos, but it was fun while it lasted!
Realizing for the first time since childhood that Cooties actually has rules!
Sometimes Operation is more fun by yourself.
Otto had this really complicated game that took forever to set up, no one wanted to play at first, but finally Bridgette joined him.

Showing Daddy some of their math work.
We did a unit on Biological, Abiotic and Manmade. Started with a hike around our house to find objects to sort into categories. We also cut out some pictures from magazines and took some of our own photos.
Abiotic Natural means that it isn't from a living thing but it is found in nature. Air, Water, rock and dirt fall into this category.
Abiotic Manmade are things that people have made. Rubber, plastic, metal, Styrofoam are all examples.

Making firestarters. I learned this a long time ago in girl scouts. Half of a toilet paper roll, stuff with dryer lent and poor melted wax on top. Makes great fire starters. I got the wax from used candles at Goodwill, which makes this a complete recycle project. Which also tied into our unit on Earth's Resources and using materials wisely.
Finished fire starters may not look great, but they work perfectly!
Lego city is getting huge!

Trying on Halloween Costumes, Halloween is just around the corner! We had a homeschool Costume day so that the kids would have another excuse to wear their costumes. Too bad I forgot to take a pic of all the kids when they arrived! (Maddie the Ghost and Izzie the Vampire.)
