Papa Haydn and the Portland Japanese Gardens

The day after we went to tea, Melanie and I decided to spend an afternoon in Portland shopping and finding a place to eat. Portland has a ton of restaurants and it was difficult to choose. A few friends recommended Papa Haydn for their dessert menu, which is Melanie's favorite course. We split a light lunch so we could devour dessert. And oh, boy did we.

 I ordered: Marjolaine
Guittard chocolate mousse and hazelnut praline cream piped between layers of almond-hazelnut meringue, topped with whipped crème fraiche and French vanilla chocolate
And it was delicious. It was creamy and crunchy and so very decadent.

Melanie got a seasonal berry tart. It was just as good as my dish.

We spent the rest of the afternoon walking it off and window shopping up and down some quaint streets in Portland.

The next day we went to the Portland Japanese Gardens. These gardens have been certified as authentic in the Japanese style and it was a very serene and tranquil place to visit. Every where you looked was beauty, texture and style. Izzie, Daddy and Maddie

Stone pathway, I just loved the mix of stone and wood that was the building materials.
