Piggie and Gerald

This was a goodbye part for my friend Emily. She was the first person I met here in Washington. I'm so sad to see her move to Arizona. But excited for her too! {Amanda, Nicole, Tricia, Julie, Emily, Angela, Amy, Natalie and JoAnn} We had a fabulous time and laughed the entire evening away.

The girls and I decided that they were going to put on a puppet play. I cut these puppets out of felt for them to sew. Piggie and Gerald are the main characters in several of Mo Williems' books.

First Day of Kinder Pictures, better late than never....

I love upcycling. It's the in thing right now. It's trendy to be reusing old clothes into new items. In this case I took four old baby blankets and turned them into very comfy pajama pants for the girls. Maddie and Izzie modeled for me.

Teaching the girls to use a sharp knife. They are really good at it, but it still makes me nervous!

 Creative Writing class.

Their first day of "Kindergarten" I took these pictures on the day that the local schools started. (I'm way late posting these, but I DID take them at the right time.) They've been doing Kinder work for awhile and are actually onto 1st grade math and reading. I made these shirts and hope that I'll remember to take their picture at the begining of each year to see them grow.

Sandy Swimming Hole with Daddy

The girls and I have got to the Sandy Swimming Hole a few times with friends, but we hadn't taken John out yet. So on the last weekend of August, we all made our way out. It was pretty crowded, but not too bad.

 Izzie making a castle.

The Sandy Swimming Hole is actually very rocky. And even though I bought them swimming shoes, they like to go barefoot. Here's Maddie gingerly walking across the rocks.

John loves skipping rocks. He got a few all the way across the river!

Nanna and Popo come to visit

 I love sunflowers!

Maddie and Izzie goofing off by standing in the cutouts in the wall of the livingroom.

Playing at ACE, one of our homeschool groups. It was a nice day so the kids were playing around on the playground equipment. Izzie and Maddie those two pink spots, were racing back and forth collecting pine cones and making a stash of htem on the playground.

And then it was finally time to go pick Nanna and Popo up from the airport! Waiting was so hard! But both Maddie and Izzie found a good spot and had their cards all ready to give to Nanna and Popo at their first sighting.

Izzie was up in Popo's arms before anyone could blink.

 Mom, Chris, Maddie and Izzie.

Mom and Chris wanted to drive around and see the sights. I took them to Washougal and we pulled over to look at this waterfall on the Washougal River.

We had left the girls home with Daddy while we went out exploring and came home to this. Love it. Maddie, Izzie and Daddy all playing with their tablets.

It was both Popo and Sammy's birthday, so we got on Skype to sing Happy Birthday to my 9 year old nephew.

And John and I got to go out on a date. We went out to eat and then to a bowling alley. Neither one of us had played in a while. John's first game was decent but I came back to beat him in the second game!

We went out to lunch with Heather DeFord, the realtor who sold our house. Mom plans on using her when she moves here so she wanted to meet her. Izzie and Maddie got their very own table.

Being silly on the way home from the restaurant.
