It's fun to blog about the good stuff in life. But life doesn't always unfold exactly how you imagined. Regardless of what happens though, it is taking what you get and making the best of it. John got laid off this morning. We were both expecting it and we weren't. Mostly we weren't. The company had a huge layoff early December and since we "survived" that round, we thought we were relatively safe for awhile. Especially since John landed some big costumers recently. But the company has had a reputation for unexpected layoffs so we weren't ever comfortable. But to be fair, that is typical of the "industry" he is in. So we are a bit sad and a bit surprised. But we are also excited.
Layoffs mean adventure. This is our third layoff (like I said, it's the industry he's in) so in a way we are old pro's. This is our first layoff with a house payment and kids, which does add an new element to things. Instead of being stressed out and worried about our future, we are appreciating the unexpected time together, we are hunting for new opportunities and we can't wait to see what the next day has to offer. Who knows, next month, we may be packing to move to the West Coast! Although, we'd really like to stay in this area because we have so much family here and we are big "family" people. It would be more than difficult to move away. But neither of us would be opposed to taking a great offer in other parts of the country. Like I said, it's options and adventure.
We told the girls that Daddy wasn't going to be going to work anymore for a while and that he was going to look for a new job. Which of course is true. There isn't really any reason to get sad or overly worried. Life is what you make it. They were just happy he'd be home to play more Zelda with them!
So that's my big news for the evening. I think this quote applies: Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.
