Well we've been hitting the potty training pretty hard core since Dec. 20th, 2010. That is the girl's third birthday. We prepped them for about two weeks telling them that on their birthday they had to say goodbye to their bops (diapers,) except at naptime and nighttime. They knew it was coming. The morning of their birthday I came in their room with panties and sang this silly song:
Bye Bye Bops, Bye Bye Bops, Bye Bye Bops,
We don't need you anymore!
We used you when we were babies,
But now we are all grown up,
Bye Bye Bops, we don't need you anymore!
It's time to use panties and go pee pee in the potty.
It's time to use panties and it's time to be all grown up!
Seriously, silly songs make scary transitions that much easier to deal with. I mean, we've been using panties on and off for a while now, but to tell them that they are gone, all of a sudden they wanted their diapers back! But it's been about 2.5 weeks since we gave up the diapers and I can see much improvement. Maddie is 95% potty trained and Izzie isn't too far behind. She has a couple more accidents that Maddie. The past two days we've had no pee accidents in the mornings at least which is HUGE from the 3-4 per girl just in the morning when we started. We've also moved from getting a dried pineapple after every time we go pee to getting 5 before naptime and bedtime if you stay dry for the morning or afternoon.
