Settling Back In

Yesterday and today have mostly been about settling back in after being gone for so long. Yesterday morning was us as a family being lazy and playing and definitively not unpacking! We went over to Grandma and Grandpa's house yesterday evening to visit with family and pick up Ripley. The weather was great and we spent some time hanging in the back yard while Tom was grilling some chicken and steaks.

Dinner was delicious but chaotic! All of the four foot and under crowd went bonkers. The girls were refusing to eat saying it was "yucky." Not that they would know, they didn't taste it! But I will tell you they have a memory and the last time we were at Grandma and Grandpa's they got cookies. So last night, all they wanted was cookies (it had nothing do to with the dinner which was very yummy.) Sabrina was fascinated by saying my name and yelling it over and over across the table. Which was adorable I do have to admit. Even Sammy had a little melt down at dinner. It was one of the loudest we've had so far. I don't know how families with 4 or more children do it! I guess eating together every single night would be different?

Just as we were finishing dinner, Dana, Cody and Lucy arrived. They had gotten stuck in traffic and told us to start without them. Lucy came in crying so I didn't get to get many cuddles in. It was time for us to leave so we said a hi-bye to Dana and Cody and headed home to get the girls down to bed.

Today John, Maddie, Izzie and I went out to run some errands, one of which was to stop at the Halloween Shop. Normally we don't dress up, but we are going to a party this year with a music theme. I'm trying to put together a Dolly Parton costume and John is going as a member of Blue Man Group. I think we'll be a hit if we can pull it off!
