Words

One of my friends said that at her 15 month check up the pediatrician asked how many words her child was speaking, if any. That got John and I thinking last night. How many words do the girls know? They are 15 months this Friday. We tried to come up with a list. Here is what we came up with.

Both girls seem to have the same vocabulary. I think Izzie uses words more often than Maddie though. Maddie seems to use her signs more. I'm going to pay closer attention though, because I'm not sure. Here are the words they say although most of the words aren't enunciated clearly yet.
Cat
Dog
Doll
Baby
Momma
Daddy
Nana
Book
Moo (is that a word??)
Light
Shoe
Car

In sign language they can also communicate:
Eat
More
All Done
Milk
Book

Other words they know the meaning of are:
Put Up
Sock
Block
Box
Chair (high chair)
Outside
Go
and I'm sure more that I'm not thinking of right now.

Pretty impressive for almost 15 months. Twins are also at a risk of delayed language development, but it seems like our girls are right on track.

I can't think of any more words they say, but I think they know the meaning of more words than you listed. They both know and respond to their individual names. And when we were looking through their "dictionary" word book they could identify: hat, flower, and I think bath. They also understand the meaning of night-night, come here, wash your hands, banana and even if you don't think so, they know the word NO. They know: kiss and they know that bye-bye means to wave although I'm not sure they know it means I'm leaving.
Those count don't they?
